| INTRODUCTION | |
| MGNREGA 2005 passed in parliament came into force in three phases throughout the country. | |
| Upper Subansiri was the first district to implement the Act in February 2006. | |
| In the second phase, Lohit and Changlang District were covered from 2007-08 FY. | |
| In the third phase, rest of districts were covered from 2008-09 FY. | |
| OBJECTIVES | |
| 1 | Provide guaranteed 100 days of unskilled wage employment to every household in rural areas as per the demand. |
| 2 | Creation of durable and sustainable permissible assets in rural India through wage employment thereby strengthening the livelihood resource base of the poor. |
| 3 | Social inclusion of all the vulnerable sections in rural India. |
| 4 | Strengthening of Panchayat Raj Institutions. |
